For the 18th year Tampa General Hospital worked with the 19 year old Hillsborough County Foster Angel Program to provide holiday gifts for the over 1,500 foster children in Hillsborough County. Approximately 50% of TGH’s over 5,000 employees participated in making this a special Christmas.
Ron Hytoff, President and CEO of Tampa General Hospital lead the ceremony as hundreds of toys and gifts were presented to the Foster Angel Program to be distributed to area foster kids. Delwyn Collins, a dishwasher at TGH, donates hundreds of toys and hours in making the program a success. He specifically expressed concern for teenagers: “teenagers deserve a Christmas, too.”
Foster Angels Executive Director and Founder Mac MacNeel described founding the group when he was surprised with a last minute addition of five foster kids to his already five at the Christmas holidays. That moment, 19 years ago, left him looking at sad faces as presents were halved and shared. While this years stacks of toys may have left TGH, don’t feel helpless, you can still help by contacting the Foster Angels at 813-677-7376.
