Friday, August 10 will see the first pre-season game of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The fanatacism of football fans can be overwhelming. The bending of rules can be overwhelming as well. The amount of public money and property to support this private business is huge and the public's request for accountability is almost non-existent. (And lots of public funds are going towards the other professional sports teams as well) It seems the only real accountability is whether the team has a winning season or not. We like football and all that goes with it. The cheerleaders, the excitement, the beer, the really good plays - even the sometimes bad officiating provides for a chance to yell and get our thoughts away from work, politics, housework, and almost anything else. Some fans are real fanatics. They stay home, turnoff the phones, and never move from the tv sets. (When they are still making payments on their new $5,000 hd set, who blames them ?) Some fans have to go to every game in person - to see and be seen as much as the thrill of the game. Some fans have their favorite bars to visit, maybe with other same team supporters. TampaGold wants to know, where is your favorite place to watch a game and why ? We welcome input from team supporters and venues as to their favorite team meeting spots. And while the pro teams are starting to get underway, we welcome the same from college fans as well.
