SOUTH TAMPA TOWN MEETING
Plant High School - Feb. 7, 2006
Mayor Pam Iorio's First Town Meeting of 2006 provided about 100 residents with the opportunity to be heard on various issues affecting their homes, their streets, or their neighborhoods. With a full back up team of City Department Managers, she was ready to respond to specific issues and was ready to share her views on the future of Tampa. The main concerns seemed to revolve around growth and development issues in one shape or another. Concerns about historic preservation, drainage, transportation, water, and development based fees were expressed by many at the meeting. With a newly released report indicating a significant drop in crime statistics for Tampa, the Mayor and Police Chief were glowing with pride. We plan to provide coverage at all of the 2006 meetings.

One important issue discussed was the availability of EMERGENCY EVACUATION for People of Special Needs. A form should be completed ASAP and returned to the County to be eligible. Should have a friend, neighbor, or relative that might need to be evacuated, please print out the form and have them complete it and returned to the address on the bottom of the form. THIS SHOULD BE DONE NOW and updated each year. Do Not Wait for an emergency to be upon us!
