The Finance Committee and Executive Board of the Tampa Museum of Art approved the temporary location of the museum to the City owned Centro Espanol on North Howard Avenue today. With a deadline looming before the demolishing of their current location, the board’s options are becoming more limited.
The next hurdle will be the Full Board of Directors vote that should come at their next meeting on Nov. 14th. The temporary location will be for at least 18 months while construction of a new building is underway. The next real mission for the Museum board will be to raise the funds necessary to complete the new building. Mayor Iorio has clearly indicated that the City has defined exactly what amount of funds the City will provide and if necessary, the size of the building must be adjusted to meet the funds on hand.
