Sunday afternoon saw a very long line as hundreds turned out to see the silent film the Black Pirate at Tampa Theatre. Starring Douglas Fairbanks, this excellently restored 1926 film was the second full length film to be presented in Tampa Theatre's beginning days. While Fairbanks and the movie plot was excellent, the real draw of the day was the theatre's mighty organ and the incredible musical talent and charm of Rosa Rio. As an original organ player from silent movie days, Rosa did not disappoint. The theatre was packed and the movie was great. If you have never been to Tampa Theatre, you have failed to enjoy on of Tampa's real treasures, and having Rosa there provided two treasures at once.
