Frequently we are asked about our favorite local non-profit group, it is probably Voices for Children-Guardian ad litem.

The name is one of the reasons we like to assist them. Sounds like something put together by lawyers. Basically it is.

When a child finds themselves in a bad home or another situation that forces them to be placed under court supervision, this is frequently the group that pays attention to the legal interests of the child. This is not for the weak, this is a tough program for tough situations. Thousands of kids in Tampa are in this position every year.

Recently they held a special event and recognized Tampa Dentist Randy Feldman with the Champion for Children award. Dr. Feldman does great things for our community and has been recognized many times for his efforts.

We like this organization because 1. it is local, 2. they have a great team of people with Lisa Semeyn as their Executive Director, 3. this is a tough issue that requires some explaining.
