Rowlett Park, located near Bush Boulevard and 22nd Street, is a true neighborhood park. Kids play, people walk, play tennis, and racquet ball. Tampa Public Art combined with Community Stepping Stones and the Youth of Sulphur Springs to create a mural reflecting neighborhood values on the walls of the racquet ball courts. Students worked to provide the designs and to form the bonds of friendship and the rewards of accomplishment on a true work of public art.
The large crowd of neighborhood supporters and well wishers, showed that the long term community value of public art is well worth the effort and costs involved. We are please to present to you views of the mural and the comments from many who participated in making this project happen.
