RFC invades the USF Sundome

RFC invades the USF Sundome

Real Fighting Championships invades the USF Sundome with eight fights. With the ever evolving sport of Mixed Martial Arts, the RFC is trying to put a stamp on the world for its promotion. The evening was packed with energetic fights from some up and coming fighters.

Headling the night for the RFC was James Edson "Little Tiger" Berto, defending his Lightweight Title against Juan Barrantes. The fight offered little to no excitement with Juan Barrantes unwilling to try and slug it out with Little Tiger. After many sloppy takedown attempts by Barrantes he managed to secure one takedown and a heel hook; which only resulted in leaving himself open to a similar hook. After they both scrambled back to their feet it was Little Tiger's fight. By round 5 you could tell both fighters were very fatigued but Little Tiger kept pushing the pace and Barantes' takedowns were as telegraphed as ever. Little Tiger managed to stuff his takedown attempt everytime. Judges ruled the fight a Decision in favor of James Edson "Little Tiger" Berto keeping his Lightweight Belt and improving his record to 13-4-1.

Gilbert Burgos made his Pro debut by defeating Jack "The Giant Killer" Murphy by Judges Decision. Round 1 showed Burgos pushing the pace by some vicious slams to the mat. Once on the ground, he showed his impressive ground skills by passing Murphy's guard into Side Mount and from there throwing some knees to the body. Rounds 2 and 3 were mirrors of the first, Murphy managed to secure a Ghuilittine Choke in round number 2 but Burgos was able to escape, Judges Decison went to Gilbert Burgos.

Daniel Viveiros made his Pro Debut by getting submitted by Gracie Tampa Fighter Miguel Gonzalez. Gonzalez; showing his slick jujitsu, managed to pass his guard to secure a side mount which led a straight arm bar. Viveiros won the fight by Tap Out, via the arm bar, in the first round.

Chino Duran edged out a win over Chris "Peanut" Holder. The 2 round fight was back and fourth. However, Chino was able to take full mount at the end of Round 1 and pound out Holder only to be interrupted by the sound of the bell. Going into round 2 the fatigued Holder was taken down again, and was pounded out by Duran, only this time to be stopped by the Judges. Duran wins by TKO.

James "Bones" Austin submitted J Lee by Triangle choke in the middle of Round 2. It was anybody's fight in the first round. Austin attempted many armbars but could never lock his hips down to get the submission. Round 2 came out with both fighters appearing very winded. With a few kicks and punches thrown J Lee took Austin down but manged to wind up inside a Triangle and was submitted in Round 2.

The show featured great fights with great fighters. Rob Kahn and his MMA school Gracie Tampa showed that he teaches his atheletes the right tools. He had two fighters compete in the event with 2 spectacular wins. For more information about the RFC go to www.rfcmma.com
