The Motor Trend Auto Show at the Tampa Convention Center was packed with cars of every price, size, and shape. While it was sponsored by the Greater Tampa Bay Automobile Dealers, most of the displays and staff were part of the national marketing programs of the auto manufacturers. It was not a high pressure sales event, but rather an opportunity to see virtually every new car in todays market place and to have the chance to sit in it, look at it, and get the additional information you might be seeking. With lots of space and lots of cars to look at, it was easy to spend a few hours looking and enjoying.

Of course, there were plenty of expensive toys to look at too. If your budget was over $100,000, then you could have found the perfect car for you.

I concentrated on looking at the booming low price new cars. Yes, you can really buy a new car in the $10,000 range. And there were many good choices to select from.

The styles and gadgets were most impressive. LCD Tvs on the back of every seat. Navigation systems. Gauges in the center of the dash (not sure what I think of that). New colors. Lots of convertibles seem to be cropping up too.

If you went, what was your favorite ? We would like to know. Mine was the Jeep truck that is not yet available. Would probably never buy one, but you can dream a little can't you ? That is part of what the Motor Trend Auto Show is all about.
