With Six different proposals, about 100 residents
spent time digging through the details of what will be
a big development project in West Tampa.
Hotels, condos, spas, film & tv studios and high end
grocery stores: conceptual plans are now getting
closer to become reality on the current Fort Homer
Hesterly Armory site. Many of the proposals will
total over $100 million.
This location serves as the gateway from the
interstate to SOHO and Hyde Park. Additionally this
project will provide a major boost in the development
of Old West Tampa and the North of Kennedy area.
JUST BECAUSE THERE ARE THREE SHIPS HERE
DOESN'T MEAN WE HAVE BEEN ATTACKED !
Over 800 members of the Japanese Navy will be
visiting from their 3 Ships to be docked near the
Florida Aquarium. Add that to almost 20,000 Shriners
and Tampa is going to be a place to party for the
Fourth. Welcome to Town !

BIGGEST CONVENTION IN TAMPA'S HISTORY
The International Shriners are hitting town
this week
for the largest Convention in Tampa's History.
This much sought after annual affair is special in that
the International Shrine Headquarters is located
on the Courtney Campbell Causeway. AND with a
match up with July 4th
Celebrations, this years Parade will be
Tampa's largest ever.
Famous for clowns, parades, and fez hats, Shriners
should really be known for their support of Childrens
Hospitals. This is a potential test run for the
possibility of Tampa's selection as the site for the
2008 Republican National Convention.
We Welcome the Shriners to town and look
forward to a Great Parade ! The Parade will be
on Bayshore and run from Bay to Bay to Rome. Start
Time is 2 PM.

Smokehouse will be the location of the First
Annual Sudan Relief Jam. 100% of the Proceeds will
benefit Doctors Without Borders to assist the people
of Darfur.

some time to talk to candidates for public office. If
you add up the taxes you pay - property taxes, sales
taxes, income taxes, gas taxes, and others - how
big a portion of your income does it amount to ?
How much time did you have to work to obtain that
amount of money ?
You should be putting a few hours into finding out
who these elected officials are and who the
candidates are. AND ask them your questions. Let
them know what you think.
Recently I listened to a County Commission candidate
talk for an extended time about the need to do
something about mass transit, roads, and
development. Yet when asked, the candidate did
not know the name or even the right sex of the head
of Hartline, the county's mass transit office.
Democracy only works if people are involved.
Get Involved ! Write letters to editors, post
comments on websites. These really do get read by
many of the people that count. We offer a free page
and interview to every candidate for public
office to be available to our readers.
