Leadership Tampa Bay Class of 2008 Selected
What started in 1988 as an effort to build the local communties of Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and Tampa into a more cohesive single market is celebrating their 20th year. Leadership Tampa Bay is a professionals program affiliated with the area Chamber's of Commerces to provide current event/issue education to Tampa Bay professionals. Showcasing a series of informative meetings that provide interaction with private and public officials in an immersed and open environment has allowed the organization to clearly be a center for indepth education on local issues. The long list of participants in the Leadership programs at the area Chambers is clearly a clue to how it is helped to motivate and educate some of Florida's true leaders.
Programs can include visits to Tallahassee, government offices, agencies, privates business, and more. A bond of friendship and understanding develops between class members than can sometimes lead to longterm business/community relationships.
The St. Pete Chamber and the Tampa Chamber sponsor their own Leadership program dedicated to their area, while the Tampa Bay Chamber is truly Tampa Bay oriented. Graduates in past programs have included now Governor Charlie Crist, St. Pete Mayor Rick Baker, Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers President Gay Culverhouseand even the Editor of this site, Bill Sharpe.
