MASTER MERHDAD MUAY CLASSIC VII Saturday Night Fights At The Cuban Club
Saturday July 29th 2006
The crowd roars as the entrance music plays as each combatant emerges
from
the staircase, into the crowd, down the aisle and into the ring. It's
Saturday night and it's time to fight!
The Cuban Club played host to
Master
Merhdad Muay Classic VII in conjunction with World Shin Kumate
Association
on Saturday night in Ybor City.
A few hundred people have come out to see these up and coming amateurs
battle for pride and recognition. The bouts were competitive and full
of
energy often bringing the crowd to their feet throughout the evening.
The
crowd was definitely into each match; one exciting bout that was judged
to
be a draw brought the crowd into frenzy with many spectators feeling
that
there was a clear victor. The night's crowd consisted of many people
who
had knowledge of not only the sport but the fighters as well.
The
event's
set up was handled very well using all the features of the Cuban Club's
bottom level. Congrats to Master Merhdad and the Cuban Club on hosting
a
great event. This looks to be the beginning of much more kickboxing
action
coming to The Cuban Club. On a side note: the Cuban Club also had an
event
going on at the same time on their fourth floor. It's amazing that the
club
can produce great sound at both events and the noise did not mix with
one
another.
The Cuban Club is proving that they are a versatile venue
that can
host many different events. The Cuban Club is going through a
resurgence
period and this event seems to be a step in the right direction.
The
Cuban
Club is located at 2010 Avenida Republic de Cuba in Ybor City.
